doctee
Hi all, I don't know if some one has thought of this before, but I have adapted a heater control switch into a choke cable. which works really well as it locks in increments and if you have to remove the dash it makes it that bit easier as you don't have to remove the cable from the carb. I hope someone finds this useful. sorry if someone has already thought of it.Also I found this radio mounting ( item no.300426366614 ) for Herald and Vitesses on e-bay. I bought one and it has two dial gauge holes (2" holes). you dont get the gauges.regardsdoctee
marktheherald
I made an under-dash radio mount with two guage holes out of a surplus glove-box lid. Almost matches the rest of my dash.
Zendervision
There were already holes under my dash from a previous radio installation, so I just made a simple bracket out of wood. Covered with black fake leather, it matches the dash vinyl.
doctee
Hi All, Here are a couple of photos of the radio mount in place, it is off centre on purpose so the gauge on the right isn't covered by the steering wheel.regards doctee
TR7th Heaven
I've fitted the same item to my Vitesse. I'm really impressed with it. Well made and it looks much better in real life. I think in photos it looks too shiny but in reality it really blends in well with the 60s interior. It has also allowed me to fit a clock and an ammeter either side of my 'modern' radio. I'm toying with the idea of putting a chrome [face=Verdana] Vitesse [/face] badge above it to fill the gap. Rich ;)
doctee
Yeah, I must admit I didn't know if it would be too "blingy", but as you say it really looks like a 60,s extra.cheers doctee

doctee
Hi, The gauges I have left of the speedo are, top/water temp, below/ clock,to the left of the radio is an oil pressure gauge and today I have fitted a volt meter to the right of the radio, and to the right of the speedo I have fitted an electronic rev counter from an MG. The car is negative earth (I have also fitted an alternator). The seats are from a MGF, you have to cut the mounts off the mgf seats and I fitted flat bar to the floor mountings and drilled the bar to bolt the seats to. they are a squeese to fit and they don't fold forward but as it's a convertible it dosen't really cause any problems to the rear pasengers. but they are really comfortable when driving any distance.regards doctee
