GT6boy
Looking to start work on the new mk2 GT6 head soon, so need some thought on what to get the CR set to. The engine will be meant for Track days/Fast Road (it's ok Roy, i'll wait for you to catch up ;)). The cam is currently the TH5/FR83 280 duration item. triple 1.5" carbs, balanced bottom end, probably County pistons, :-/Megajolt etc. It runs on Super Unleaded. Changing the cam may be an option- if I can sell one of the kids.... It was running well on 9.1/1 CR (120bhp at the rear wheels) previously, nice to drive through the rev range, but I feel the cam/engine would perform much better if the CR was more lively, but the old head is toast and wouldn't have allowed for any increase in CR. So, anyone have any ideas as to what combination of CR and spec's have worked well for them?
Richard B
Whats wrong with the cam Bruce? I was led to believe that this is as good as the TR5 cam?
GT6boy
The cam isn't a Triumph design- I wish it was a TR5 cam! There's a school of thought that these Ford profiles aren't suited to Triumphs. Certainly my car has suffered from a torque spike low down, which has lessened with the cumulative work i've done to the engine, but none-the less, I can't help but feel I'm polishing a turd- cam shaft wise :-/.
