SKOOBY6
Could this be caused by perished piston rings?? Just a rumour i heard.
Nick Jones
Lots of possible causes for low compression.'Perished' doesn't seem like a good description for piston rings though - usually applied to rubber. I have heard it said that rings can loose their tension through severe overheating.Need more info about the problem. What pressures on what cylinders, test done with throttle open and engine warm? Any change if oil is added to the cylinders and test repeated? Some RV8s from Land/range rovers had low compression ratios and fairly low compression pressures anyway. Another favourite with them is eating the cam lobes so the valves don't open.Nick
GreenV8Machine
Could be burnt out valve seats or even a holy piston! loads of stuff.
