Peterjbay
Has anyone heard of an external belt-driven water pump being fitted to a Stag in place of the standard item?I am aware of the electric water pump conversion, but wondered if a cheap-but-not -neccesarily-nasty fix might be to take an external water pump off a suitable vehicle from a breakers yard and drive it from the spare (aircon?) groove in the crankshaft pulley. Why not? - it could be mounted nice and low down and geared to give whatever volume and velocity required.I worked with engine dynamomenters during my student days, and cooling the engine was not rocket science! Richard B
Yes, done with a Triumph 2000 (6 Pot) water pump mounted where the alternator is (or most EWP's).Personally I would fit an EWP there as a booster if you want to keep it simple. Just use it manually when stuck in traffic etc and leave the existing Stag WP and Thermostat.
