Rubce
Hi All The voltmeter in our Stag has started to behave oddly. When using the car for the first time on a given day, the voltmeter does not work. Once the engine has warmed up, the voltmeter spring into action. After that, whenever the car is used that day, the gauge functions normally! In the meantime the charging light is functioning normally. Thoughts as to the cause? Regards Bruce
RobPearce
Could just be that the gauge has got sticky. Leave it overnight and it glues itself to the off position. Run it long enough and the glue breaks. Using it again the same day is too soon for it to have stuck. I've had a couple of cars with speedos that did that.

Hi Rob, so your saying take it apart and clean it? Regards Bruce
RobPearce
Probably. You could check the wiring too - getting a proper voltmeter across the gauge terminals when it's misbehaving will tell you whether it's the gauge or something else, but that may not be easy to do in situ.
