TOM Fisher
Thanks to the answers in my post yesterday (speedo 10% out)I think the problem is in the number of teeth on the gear so I need to remove the existing drive gear. Its jacked up high, speedo cable removed, the instruction say grip the end of the gear and wiggle it about until it pops out with its bearing, seal and housing. But despite lots of wiggles it will not budge any advice please?
yorkshire_spam
Still not sure what gearbox you have.... so this might not be good advice! On the 'box I've worked on recently I managed to get the tip of at thin small flat bladed screwdriver between the "bung" that the speedo drive runs through and the case and pry it out far enough to get a bigger flat bladed driver in... "wiggle it out" is a bit like the old haynes "withdraw bolt from housing" (an hour later it's still not out after being brayed with a sledge hammer!) - easier said than done! TOM Fisher
Thanks for that, it was what I was trying as long as that might well be a solution I will persist again. Cheers
Guppy916
When yo put it back together make an inspection port, it's well worth the effort, I have two one for speedo and the other for checking the oil level
