Route etc

As a first timer on the 10CR I am wondering when details of the route, overnight accommodation etc will be published?

I would imagine ...not for a while yet..........and then when we know that , the accommodation will be down to the entrants.

Which is why I was asking for the route, so I can book ferries and accommodation.

The location for accommodation and dates are usually announced quite quickly as we are all in the same position.

It is frustrating not knowing where we are going but even when we do know there could be some last minute changes. I'd recommend using a company like Booking.com where you can cancel at the last minute. You may also want to change hotels to join up with other entrants. On the run itself, you will see a lot of strangers. We probably know each other but only by the 'names' we give ourselves on the forum. At some point I think it will be worth linking up our forum 'name' to our real name.

Of course there will be many entrants that don't use the forum!

We can always be recognised from our cars I suppose, here's mine in Nice on the 2003 10CR. Squashy bumpers no match for my steel ones.

One option to investigate is not booking any hotels after the start one, and doing it on the fly.

Would not have worked before the advent of fully online hotel booking.

That way you ar not committing to doing a certain mileage each day.

Kinda worked for us last time. Just watch out for website not showing the correct location of the hotel  caught us out once, location was almost 100 miles wrong direction.

Also make sure you dont go all the way down Stelvio towards Trafoi and then realise that you should have done a U turn at the top of Stelvio and gone towards your hotel at Ponte Di Legno on the other side of Stelvio. Still, it was good doing Stelvio twice! And once in the dark! 😂
