Chriss
I have just emailed all entrants the following update on progress about the event. If you are an entrant and have not received it please contact me by email or PM. Hello all Coast 2 Coast 2022 Entrants It is a while now since the excitement of the event’s initial announcement and you will not have heard anything from me since. The team has been working hard and we are completing everything that needs doing to make the event a success. This mail is to update you on what has been done and to ask you to do some things in preparation for the event. Entry List The Entry List for the event sold out in 8 ½ hours, so there are a full 50 entrants. There is a healthy spread of seasoned campaigners and first time entrants. There have also been 12 potential entrants on The Reserve List. Since opening the entry two of the entrants and two of the reserves have had to drop out, so currently we have 50 entrants and 8 reserves. MsUK Permit In order to be able to run the event we need to have a Motorsport UK Permit for a Touring Assembly. This shows that we have been through the proper procedure to get the event cleared with all relevant UK motoring and legal authorities. This is more than just red tape as MsUK have a positive input into the event. Indeed without their flexibility and co-operation we would not have been able to run last year. We have obtained a Permit and its number is 125981. I am obligated to tell you that but it may be handy information so please make a note of it. Road Book Howard Brissenden has been preparing a Road Book to cover the essential instructions for the event and the route. He will give you the route and the Road Book by email in early June. The route will be in the form of .gpx files for use with Garmin and Tomtom satnavs. You will need to know how to upload these files to your satnav and as we run the event you will need to know how to delete waypoints after we pass them in case there is a change of route due to an obstructed road. It will be useful to install the speed camera warning database for your model of satnav and Garmin users may also find that their smartphone link is also worthwhile. Additionally the route will be available as Google Routes. This can be used with smartphones and pads. It can also be used to transfer the route to a road atlas before the event. WhatsApp Group Howard has set up a WhatsApp group which will use the mobile phone numbers and team names you have given in your entry form. If you do not want your number added to this list for any reason or have an alternative number you want to use, please contact Howard as soon as possible by email ( howard.brissenden@gmail.com ) or via the CT Forum Private Message Service. If you are unfamiliar with WhatsApp, it is a free and secure app that can be installed on any reasonably recent Android or Iphone from their App stores. It provides fast and easy to use text/photo/phone/video chat service. You will be able to contact Howard directly via his WhatsApp address throughout the event and the organizing team will be sending out updates via the group that we have set up. He will also set up a smaller group for the organising team and if anyone contacts him in an emergency during the event they can then be added to this group so we can provide them with the maximum support. If you have any questions please email Howard or post them on the forum. Logistics If you have not got your overnight accommodation booked, The Premier Inn under construction in Porthmadog will not be completed until 16th September. Travelodge is reported to have some availability. Caernarfon and Bangor are not far away and have more hotels than Porthmadog. Car Parade Video The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway would like to make a video of a parade of our cars running next to one of their trains along the Cob to Minffordd Station with their drone. CT will also be able to share this footage. There is room for 9 cars at the station. It would be normal to ask for volunteers for this, but because of wanting as many different types of Triumph as possible and the complications of the Boston Lodge visits we will be “inviting” entrants to take part in this parade. John Bell is organising this. John is a CT member and TR6 owner. He is also a long standing member of The FWHR’. He knows both organisations very well. He will contact selected entrants about this in May and give you the full details of what he would like you to do. The cars, entrants and crew will assemble at the FWHR Harbour Station at 09:00 on Saturday June 25th and sign into the C2C event and receive event Vinyls. Cars will be photographed at the station and will leave the station in conjunction with the 09:45 train. Participants in this parade will not be able to take part in the morning visit to Boston Lodge works as there will not be time to complete the video and get back to catch the train to Boston Lodge. Updating Your Entry Information Very few entrants have provided all the required information for the event. This is needed to help us run the event and to satisfy MsUK permit requirements. Please would you check your information and update it during the remainder of this month. Thank you very much. It will be a big help. Q & A I have set up a Q & A thread in the Forum under Events > C2C > C2C 22 Q&A. If anyone has any questions I will get them answered for you in this thread.
