TR7 rear lower sill panel

Hello - I am about to replace the rear lower sill panel on my TR7 and was wondering/ hoping that someone has experience of this job. I can see that if I cut the 4 edges joining the panel to the inner sill , I can fit the panel but was wondering how I then weld the top edge to the edge of the inner sill - I can't get a torch into plug weld so I am slightly puzzled . Any help , advice much appreciated . Best wishes and thanks Nick
