Must have been an A*0 thing, brushing past my car in the garage one morning the headlamp unit fell off.....

Held it on with tape and string around the wing mirror - damn useful those wing mirrors!

First car I drove on the road was a 1071 Cooper, when I was 13, it was a gift from my grandfather to me  and my 2 siblings. I came home one day to find that my father had sold it for £145, to say I was not pleased is an understatement, still have not forgiven him 45 yrs later. Mind you if I had continued driving it I don't think anything good would have come out of it.

My first car was a Vitesse mk2 conv., bought 40 years ago last week....sold to buy the GT6 in Nov 83.....Loved the Vitesse, but got fed up with the rattling....

Still have a fondness for them, would love Vitesse mk1 Saloon with overdrive....

I've written elsewhere that my first car was a Triumph 1300 that consumed front driveshafts like they were going out of fashion. But.....

I've just remembered that I owned a Standard 8/10 pick-up years before that, and "rallycrossed" it around the farm where I worked in the summer holidays. It was very, very rusty and had Fred Flintstone floors and load space, and the cab roof was only  held on by gravity and a bit of bailing twine. Good fun though for a 16 year old hooligan.

I had a Vauxhall Chevette when I was learning as my first car, but long family history of Triumphs and worked on Vitesse with my dad when I was a kid (as well as some TR6s)
