dazzer
Would anyone know the available carburettor options (other than Strombergs) for a historic 1965 triumph 2000 MK1 rally car?I guess that encompasses broadly anything fitted to a 2000 MK1 in its competition life.I was wondering if SUs had ever been used on the early MK1 works rally cars? I know triple webbers are an option but the price new is a bit restrictive, unless of course anyone has a S/H set with manifolds to fit the early head? or did they ever fit dellorto's?Cheersdarren
Slimboyfat
I'm afraid you are limited to triple Webers if going the 'original' works route.Years ago we did a run of triple Weber inlets for the MKI copied from an original 'works' set. They have always been extremely rare for the MKI, and I have only ever seen a couple of genuine sets. Most of the sets we sold went to TR specialists building 2000 MKI works replicas. dazzer
HiThank you for the info.I guess I'll have another crack at overcoming the Stromberg stall then. basically its the old problem of fuel slopping about the float chamber and flooding the engine under harsh braking on tests, which makes stop/starts, forward/backward moves a no go... literally.I've already reduced the fuel level by 2mm... by increasing the float heights, how far can you go before you get fuel starvation? I'll take it down another couple of mm and test. They perform well under all other conditions... I wonder if the works teams had a revised float setting if/when they used Strombergs? Strangely I cant replicate the symptom on the road, I guess its the rough ground and the red mist when pushing hard on tests!CheersDarren
