Forgive me asking (New to Saloons and New Zealand!) but my Haynes hasn't arrived and after 10minuts of poking about, have been unable to find anything resembling a screw to lean the mixture on one of my carbs. I assume they are HS6 - they are certainly SUs and the car is a 1977, NZ built 2500S.

Cheers

Hello Jonny,

there is no screw as on other carburettors, S.U. mixture adjustment is done with a nut on the jet tube. This is located directly underneath the carburettor.
Screw this nut up a couple of lats and see how it runs. Just be sure first that the air filters are clean and the choke isn't sticking on. If you get someone to operate the choke you should see the jets moving up and down, it should be fully up when the choke is in.
I hope that's a start for you?

Alec

Found the knut underneath to turn (it seems to sit underneath the carb) with a pipe below it that goes down to a disk about the size of a 10p piece (50NZ cents).

Only thing is, access is a pig for the rear carb. Any advice?

On my spitty, I just reached underneath and twisted! God I hate fixed wings....
