Howard81
One of my jobs tomorrow is to get my Spitfire up and running after 'sleeping' for the last 6 months.I know that the previous owner played around with the carburettor settings in order to get it running, so they are going to be WAY off tune (it turned out to be a broken distributor clamp, but by that time my friend had given up!).Is there any 'guesstimate' or approximate setting I can reset them to instead of working blindly?I've only ever worked on Solex carbs on Beetles (and there's only one!) so twin SU's are a new thing to me :)It's a 1500 if that makes any difference. willcolumbine
You can probably still get it running even if it's way off tune. Just get it started and then follow the instructions on www.mintylamb.co.uk. For best results check the mixture with a colourtune and the airflow with an airflow meter but you can get them 'alright' by looking at spark plug colour and listening to the carbs with a bit of pipe instead.
