RogerD
Hi,Today I received the Club Torque March (it takes some time to reach this island...) and I noticed an interesting Vitesse on page 60. I have an early 1966 Vitesse MkI, and my Vitesse was painted Gunmetal Grey according to the BMIHT certificate. Is it possible that the Vitesse on page 60 is Gunmetal Grey?? Seems to be a rare color...

daver clasper
Hi. I believe gunmetal was used on later vitesse 6's and mk1 2ltre and heralds of same era. My vitesse is this colour. It is more blue than grey, though in direct sunlight it appears more grey. It was a less common colour (less popular?) in the day and I understand quite rare now. The seller of my car was asking more because of this. Don't know if this was justified, but I liked the colour and car was good as well. Two people who are ex RAF have compared it to vehicle/uniform colour.I read the original magazine article of the one featured in latest Club Torque and owner desribed it as gunmeatal, though it did look rather more grey (could be the light?).In the factory manuel (I think) gunmetal is included with other greys under the heading grey.CheersDave

garyf
This is a Coincidence(whistle)I've earlier this week sent an E-Mail to Dale the Editor about the Quick Quiz and the omission of Gun Metal Grey from one of the Quiz Questions?According to the excellent Mike Costigan Book the Complete Guide to the Herald & Vitesse, it states Gun Metal Grey was available from 63-69?GaryPS Tried posting a Scan PDF of the Page but got an Error message? :-/
RogerD
Hi Dave,Interesting to hear about another gunmetal grey Vitesse! My car is now royal blue, but I can see some spots of (what I think is) gunmetal greay under carpets etc. I checked in the Triumph Register here on this website if you had any pictures of your car there, it would be interesting to see how it looks. I have tried to Google pictures searching for "Triumph gunmetal grey" but it seems to be rare as you mention.Cheers,Roger.
daver clasper
Hi Roger. The ID plate on left side of bulkhead has the paint code on it, though I think you may be able to buy these in a format of what you want to put on it!.Could be wrong.Haven't got a camera at the mo to do pictures. If you post your email address I may be able to find the ad from where I bought car which has good phot'os.CheersDave
