Davemate
If you stretched it really tight visibility is greatly improved
Tim Bancroft
And to think that I spent good money on having my webasto taken out and paneled in, this would have saved me so much money, simple solutions eh!
dazzer
Hi TimWould it be possible to see a pic of the finished results? I'm looking at different solutions and a panel sounds sensible. One brave local chap feels he could unpick the whole of the roof and weld in a donor roof panel. Has done this with rally escorts to get the roll cages in.Cheers Dazzer
TedTaylor
Cut it off at the roof pillars to weld in the complete donor roof, much simpler and just as strong if a good welder is doing the job. Just make sure everything is jigged up carefully.MUT
Tim Bancroft
Basically with mine, a steel panel was 'wheeled' that length ways fitted between the top edges of the front and rear screens, the width being between the two swage lines in the roof. The panel was a monster and has been glued into place using an adhesive that Aston Martin use. The work was done at the same time that I had the alloy door skins and bonnet fitted. The guy (ex-Aston Martin panel beater)who did the work has now retired, but was a genius with an English Wheel.
dazzer
Sounds amazing. I guess the bonnet is lighter as well.
Tim Bancroft
Weighed the car at Mallory Park just after the work was done, seem to remember a figure of 1150KG.Best thing was having the louvered bonnet, this took 5 degrees C off running temp. Radders
Quoted from timbancroft61 .Best thing was having the louvered bonnet, this took 5 degrees C off running temp. I can agree with that. I have a louvred bonnet on Gertie and when sitting in the traffic in the summer, you can see the heat haze pouring out of the louvres.
