Davemate Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I appear to have three wires connected to the coil ??)One goes to the dizzy - so that's ok !One is coming from the loom near the alternator,I converted it over but I didn't touch that side of thingsThe one which I think is a bit umm, goes off towards the relay thing at the bottom of the pic. I think is the creamy looking wire on the right terminal I did that maybe a previous owner added an ignition fed live but I don't really know :XAnyone know what it could be ? Quote
JimEB Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I think it's all fine Dave - if memory serves me well (no manual to hand), the Mk1 has a relay thingy like that as part of the starter/ignition circuit. Ready to be corrected! Quote
Davemate Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 My workshop manual just shows one wire in and one out to the dizzy Quote
dazzer Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Hi DaveOn the negative side I'd of said rev counter, but if you haven't got one perhaps overdrive or auto box inhibitor.Take it off and see what doesn't work. If everything still works leave it off. Quote
Davemate Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 I've had an explanation from mr Radders, it's the feed for the overdrive, that's what the relay is on the inner wing which is were I think the wire goes to, so tomorrow I'll disconnect it and see if the overdrive solenoid stops working(his suggestion). So that's probably sorted that out :) Quote
thescrapman Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 DaveIt is the feed to the overdrive. No need to experiment!CheersColin Quote
