mazfg Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 My calipers have been cleaned and painted. I have new seals and pistons. I just wondered about putting it all back together. Is it best to wipe the new seals with some brake fluid before putting in the pistons, or best to leave them dry? I'm not going to put the calipers back on the car for a while anyway, as have a few other jobs to do before then and also trying to find the time. So probably at least a few months they'll be kept in my house. Many thanks
mikeyb Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I always wipe em wiv fluid - it acts as a lubricant as you re-assemble. If you keep them in the house you should not have any moisture problems during storage
logicaluk Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 i was going to buy a tub of the propper red rubber grease but some old boy told me just use a smear of veg oil, ive just rebuilt a set of type 14s & used a 50p nos tube of lockheed goo, it must have been 30+ years old & was rarther lumpy but with the out the lumpy bits it seem to do the job. not sure what ill use when i rebuild the vitesse brakes.Dan
