mazfg Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Just overhauling my 2 front brake calipers. managed to get the pistons out of one and only one on the other. The seals definately need replaceing and the pistons have a few spots on them too. What can I do about the piston carriers....they seem ok, no scoring but looks like there maybe a few spots on the some of th surface...Is ther anything that can be done....fine wet n dry? Rather like to keep them, save buying new set. Also wondered about tkaing the calipers apart, is it going to seal back ok or do I need something on the surfaces before they go back together? Thanks again
Clive Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Very fine wet and dry should be OK as long as you don't overdo it.You can split the callipers, I suspect they are like the type 14 and 16's and have a small rubber seal where the fluid transfers between halves. Get new seals for them and bolts to reassemble.
mazfg Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 The only seals kits I've seen are the ones which have 2 piston seals, 2 dustcovers and another small piece, which looked like a bleed nipple cover, but may be wrong..?
