Howard Posted September 12 Posted September 12 The car started life as a TR7 DHC with the original 2L engine replaced by Rover 3.5L engine circa 1990 by TR7 specialist S&S Preparations, Bacup, Lancashire to produce a TR8 clone. S&S installed their Stage 2 V8 conversion using a fully rebuilt engine and a 3.08:1 back axle. It has (Ford Capri) uprated & vented front brakes and uprated suspension. Other changes when it was up rated to a V8 included installation of hardened valve seats for unleaded petrol, electronic ignition, electric cooling fan & correctly calibrated speedometer for the new setup. I purchased the car in September 2021 & since then it has been fitted with the following:- 15” MGF alloy wheels with Falken ZE310 EcoRun tyres. (Spare also 15” MGF) LED bulbs fitted to all exterior lights including headlights. LED high level brake light. Ring automatic LED day time running lights. Windbreaker mesh screen to reduce turbulence when soft top is down. 2nd GPS digital speedo which can be switched MPH/KPH Garmin accident camera. Garmin SatNav New electric fuel pump and safety cut off switch New battery Brakes refurbished Silicon radiator hoses Rimmers three point seat belts E10 resistant fuel hoses. The car has been well used since I acquired it and in addition to local runs and event route checks we have completed the following long distance events:- 2021 / Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run (2 days / 1800 miles) 2022 & 2024 / Club Triumph 10 Countries run (5 days / 2000 miles) 2022, 2023 & 2024 / Club Triumph Coast to Coast (about 450 miles overnight) Driven briskly it normally achieves 26mpg with a cold oil pressure of 40psi and 20psi at 1000 rpm after a long fast run. It also comes with a detailed coloured wiring diagram including all modifications undertaken during its life. I have the car regularly MOT’d with the latest MOT was issued on 5/8/2024. The only MOT failure during my ownership was due to a corroded fog light contact, however I would replace the sills this year if I was keeping the car. The car is for sale as I only have time for a single classic & recently acquired the late Paul Derbyshire's blue TR7V8. 2 Quote
