Nilfisken Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hi,just swapped my old standard pads for Mintex 1144 and trying to get an idea of the best procedure to bed them in (and also to find out if it is really necessary?). There were no instructions with the pads themselves and Mintex homepage don't say much either. Browsing various car forums there seems to be lots of different protocols but I get an idea first doing a few not to aggressive stops from 30-0 followed by another set from 60-30 and finish the whole procedure of by going home slowly using the breaks to a minimum and leave it all to cool off completely should do the trick. How much difference is there to expect in pad performance by doing a proper bed in or do most people just skipping it?Cheers,Oskar
GT6 M Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Get in touch with Mintex, they got a Boffin Dept, that should be able to give the best advice.http://www.mintexbrakesonline.co.uk/Marcus
Nilfisken Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 The online seller didn't know anything but Mintex head office in UK were very helpful, about four light brakes from 30-0 followed by about seven moderate applications from 70-30 and after that drive as usual, no need to stop and cool down first. Now I need to wait for traffic to calm down, not easy finding an empty road around here at this hour!

Still a few things left to sort out, but I'm fairly confident I make it to the starting line at least...
Nick B. Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Gve the discs a quick whip with sandpaper to avoid glazing. At least that was what I did. Then out - a few har brakings, and then you are of.Here is a pictorial of what I didhttp://triumph-junkie.blogspot.com/2009/03/busting-brakes.htmlMintex will be the best you have ever done for your brakes. Braking is soooo easy now. Just be aware that they will not be perfect until heated a bit (ie one or to stops). Still - as cold they are way better than the ordinary tat sold.CheersNick
