Hi,
I went to see someone on the facebook triumph spitfire group yesterday and got my hubs pulled, and a replacement drive shaft as one of the yokes was split on my old!

I am going to get my hubs etc sandblasted, but will need to remove the bearings to do this. Is it possible to re-use the bearings etc? They only had 45k miles on them and turned like new!

I am also wondering how to pull the driveshaft past the bearings, do i need a special tool?

And finally... my seized trunnions, how do i go about removing that bolt?

Thanks,
Louis

the drive shaft is just !! pressed or  ( hammered )  out of the bearing   , ( the hub must be remved first )  mount the bearing carrier on a stout vice and carefully drift the shaft out , car to protect the threaded end .

with the back plate removed the ball race is east to drift out of its carrier

the needle roller and its shroud/cadge will also tap out but probable be wrecked in the process

if the trunnion is seized but you have cut through the bolt to remove it from the car you can then attack the remaining stud with a punch and hammer it out

of the bush

The safest way is to use a legged puller to pull the bearing housing off the half shaft
