Ron Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Hi,Does anyone know if any one offers a modern alternative to the troublesome trunnions on our Triumphs?Cheers
thescrapman Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Yes.a read of teh archives will answer all your questions.Searching on "CAterham" will point you in the right direction.CheersColin
Ron Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 Well not so much troublesome I guess as a bit difficult to live with and awkward to maintain. Having now checked out the alternatives with Canley Classics I think I'll stick with the originals until I win the lottery!

Ron Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 I can see that you guys are all traditionalists, nothing wrong with that at all.

heraldcoupe Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 1156 wrote:I can see that you guys are all traditionalists, nothing wrong with that at all.Not really, it's just that it's a problem free setup for many of us. Some people see it differently, but I'm quite happy with the maintenance regime,Cheers,Bill.
Jonny-Jimbo Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Exactly the same as virtually any part of any classic car - look after it and it will look after you. Now yes, everything has a limited service life, but usually when your trunnion breaks it's because of years of mis-maintenance.And to say we're traditionalists would be true to an extent - but almost every car in the club that I can think of has been modified in some way. Not all, but most.
G.in_Lux Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Not really a traditionalist either."If it isn't broken, don't fix it"
Ron Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 There's a great deal of merit in what you've all said. I'll stick with the original trunnions then!
