Wheelman Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I am planning to replace the vertical link trunnion assembles on my Herald. I know that the vertical link lower swivel requires lubrication with gearbox oil, but are the trunnion bushes at the lower wishbone assembled dry, or is it advisable to put some form of grease on them when fitting?
Jason Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I've always assembled them with a light smear of grease just to ease them in but I've recently found some silicon spray that is th dogs dangles for assembling rubber components so the next time I do some, I'm using that :-)
herald948 Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 What I'm most inclined to do is provide a little something -- be it white lithium grease or some anti-seize compound -- just on the through-bolt to keep it from rusting solid with the metal sleeve. Assuming you'll have the car for years to come, you WILL do this job again, and it's always nice not to have to saw through the bolt!
