mark spit Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Hi,Prob a question I should have phoned Slimboy up to ask, but they're shut now.I've bought a set for my Spitfire, are they supplied with a protective coating?Or can I powder coat/paint before fitting, obviously keeping the seal faces, threads and mounting lug faces uncoated?CheersMark
Clive Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I have recently put some on my chassis. No protection, mine got etch painted.
Davemate Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 i just fitted mine as they came out the box (whistle)
mikeyb Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I painted my vertical links but not the bottom joints as these seem to be anodized or plated.I also added a small spacer under the bottom joint nut as I was concerned that the nut corners may touch the joint housing on full articualation. I was unsure if full articulation would actually be achieved with all the components bolted up as they should be, however decided to err on the side of caution.See my bloghttp://triumphandadversity.blogspot.com/2011/05/this-weekend-i-have-been-working-mainly.html
smithy Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Cast and not coated I believe. (Had mine painted just to give them a bit of protection - but don't suppose it'll last!)
Nick Moore Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I painted mine gloss black. All part of the plan to fool any policeman into thinking they're standard (would require ADR Compliance certification to be legal in Oz).Not much I can do to disguise the anodised bearing joint carriers though!
