Hi to all,ive started to build body to chassis to obtain correct gapping before it goes to sprayers, bulkhead is in place, now on to bonnet, ive fitted two new wing panels all looking good, fitted bonnet all brackets to there limit, both adjustment bars at there limit but bonnet is still 25mm away from bulkhead along windscreen,im following the triumph body booklet which state gap along front edge should be about 5/16 pulling out my hair any suggestions please. They can be a pig to gap , maybe it’s possible to re shape the holes where the adjusters fit onto the chassis and use bigger washers. not ideal but if all else fails may be an option

Many thanks for replies, the bonnet is original cant remember fit when car was stripped for rebuild a few years ago,out riggers untouched, one thought went through my head in the middle of the night[best thinking time] is it possible that the two tight bends of the pivot tube have closed slightly enough to pull the bonnet back,i assume in the perfect world when a bonnet is correctly fitted it would still be nice to have some more available movement in the front brackets and adjustment rods.if the bonnet was previously fitted [it had a crude rebuild in the 80s by others] and aloud to stand open without bonnet stays would the weight be enough to bend the tubes? does anyone know of bonnet measurements available or anyone with an up turned bonnet assembly showing distances from corner of wing to pivot tube bushes please so i can check mine, the bulkhead is in its original position /holes it does not appear the tipping it of it makes much difference. i will get to the bottom of it but very much appreciate all your advice.Neil

Have you seen this page from my blog: http://vitessesteve.blogspot.com/2015/05/fitting-vitesse-body-to-chassis.html?m=1

Some useful resources. Our cars were never built to the same tolerances as more modern vehicles. In my experience you will need to alter stuff to get it to fit. Unless you are going to start with a bare chassis known to square and straight you will need to make allowances for the actual shape rather than the factory spec.
