djamesk13 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Hello All, Just joined, I`m looking for a Triumph Vitesse, the later ones, but as I have found out, there is not a lot around, or no one wants to sell them!! I`m in not rush, want to take my time, for the best I can afford. I looking to use it as my every day driver, I work close to home, so should only be doing around 3000 miles per year. My current car costs me nearly a £1000, a year, before I put petrol, and running costs, plus I live in London, and these day we cannot drive what we want to drive, all new cars look the same, drive the same, mega expensive, ULEZ, Car Tax, Parking, etc.etc. I`ve worked out that if i buy a classic car, pre:1972, then no ULEZ, not car tax, no mot, the Insurance is a 3rd cheaper than what I`m paying at the moment, I know these have to be looked after, regularly check things, but I`m hoping thats part of the charm, probably lock it away for the bad months, but these days weather dont seem so bad, its November now, and it aint that cold lol . Sorry for rambling on, what I am asking if anyone is selling a decent Vitesse, with above average bodywork, and good mechanics, or anyone knows of anyone selling one, please let me know. Thank you all Dave Quote
Dannyb Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Any car pre 1984 is free for ULEZ. Good luck in hunting for your Vitesse. Danny Quote
Bish Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Assuming you want a coupe, there’s a couple of lovely looking cars on car and classic. I particularly like this red one which looks like a nice original car from here, but obviously needs viewing. https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1770610 But i guess you have seen those already..? I commute into west London and have to have a ulez friendly car, so I have to say I like your style! You have to be brave to use a classic over winter - but make sure the car is underbody treated and has good heater, oh and a working rear window de mister would be a real bonus! You will be fine though, they really are great cars and capable of daily use. Happy hunting. 👍🏻 Quote
Adrian Girling Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Lot 91 at the Mathewsons’ auction on 27th November might be of interest, although it’s an early one, 1966 with the smaller engine Quote
