Radders Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Hi all, I'm currently fiiting a J type over gearbox into my '67 Mk1. The Mk1 was an overdrive originally so I'd like to keep the overdrive switch on the original stalk rather than have it on the gearstick. How do I get round the wiring issue??? Any ideas anyone????? :-/
AlanChatterton Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Why not just wire it up using the original wiring???......... Personally, I would rather have a relay in the system if you are using the stalk switch.Put the wire in the same place on the J type as the A and it will work the same.........?
Radders Posted May 17, 2009 Author Posted May 17, 2009 well that would be ok if I could remember where the original wiring went!! :-/
marc1estate Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Power supply to switch on gearbox, switch on gearbox to stalk, stalk to solenoid, fit a relay if you wish, the A type had a relay because its solenoid draws more power than a J type, dont forget to earth the solenoid.
