fitting overdrive

getting on with converting my mk2 to overdrive. the box i'm using is a j type and needs spacers to drop the box crossmember down, anyone know what size they should be??

well its now in but doesnt work,the overdrive. i'm not sure if its stuck in o/d (no speedo) but nothing seems to happen when operating the switch and it slips when it reverse,forward gears ok, checked the wiring thats ok, changed the oil. anything else to look for? can i get the o/d off without taking the box out and are all j types the same,i've got a good spit 1500 one i could use if they'll swap.

now sorted, it was the solenoid that was stuck in the 'on' position.......and i'm a happy bunny
