Havnt had time for a ring round and Sunday everywere closed.Anybody help....i dont really fancy putting the old one back. :DOhh, its a 1500 spitfire, single rail box, j type o/d if that helps.Gaz

tiggrr1 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Hey MarcusWhat about copper washers on all the bolts :-/
GT6 M Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Steeve, yes you can put them on, but its only the top two, that hold the back part on, that are poen to the inside, if the alloy has got damaged then they may no seal, thats why i said seal up, I found out the hard way,!! lost all me oil, even though they had new copper washers on.but that was when I was just starting off,!!washers and sealant to be sure. ;)

(think)Sorry mate, bit unclear, I assume you mean the top studs between the o/d and the adapter plate are the ones that leak?
uksnatcher Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Spoke to Dave at O/D SPARES....... sorted..... :)Great service and advise, highly recommended....cheers Marcus
GT6 M Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Gaz, when you have got the box back together, try and get a BIGGGG power full drill, and turn the od /gear box using the drill on the input shaft, It will take a bit o time to get the oil thru, put a feed onto the od solonoid, and an erth, frae a battery, to get the od to come in.but dooing it this way, at least you no its working before you put it all back together.just make sure you got the box going the right way,!!!Marcus
uksnatcher Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Nice one Marcus, never thought of that. Saves time and hassle if things have gone wrong.
