D Type Overdrive Gaskets

On the D type overdrive, should there be a gasket either side of the brake ring?

If not should some kind of sealant be used?

There's an exploded diagram of a D-type overdrive in my GT6 Mk3 parts manual, but I don't know which of the many parts is the brake ring.  Do you not have an exploded diagram or shop manual to work from?

Yes, I do and it doesn't show a gasket. But the confusion comes from the fact that the o/d I'm planning on fitting to my car does have gaskets either side.   :-/

No gasket, just seal it with appropriate gunge, I use blue Hylomar.
