Guppy916
When i started the restore on my GT6 I used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122473698488?hash=item1c840054b8:g:msAAAOSw1eBgQSaO on bare metal it turns black /dark Blue and is perfect for over painting, however when I finished repairing the car I took the body and bits to https://paint-strip.co.uk/car-restoration/ for the full body treatment, they were very helpful and carried out a totally outstanding job, would I use them again, TO BLINKING RIGHT. two photo's before and after the chassis was stripped repaired and galvanised then powder coated body colour and wax-oiled inside (maybe an over kill) but better safe than sorry
Adrianb
Thanks for the info and it looks really smart on your car but I hoping for a more 1970s way of painting in keeping with the age of my 13/60 if that makes sense! and if it means in ten years time I’m scraping the rust so be it.I have nothing planned that far ahead! RobPearce
Even by 1970 the bodies were generally dipped in rust preventive gloop before being primed then painted in something that was not cellulose. The sort of pain system most people think of as "factory" for our cars was already obsolete by the start of the '60s.
