cook1e
Surely its a rule that teams must raise money for the chosen charity.I note that one team is raising for a different charity Ocean Stars?? Team 125?https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/OceanStarsTRBC
Dannyb
I don't believe they should be using the club with all the the hard work the organisers have put into this event to support a different charity. What charity stickers will be on the car ? Tim Hunt
Well spotted Andy. It takes a lot to get me hot under the collar but when I read your post I almost fell of my chair. What a nerve, totally unacceptable. If Team 125 is allowed to get away with this it will be carte blanche for any one else to choose their own favourite charity on a future event. It's clearly Tim B's call but for my money the members of Team 125 should be refunded the entry fee as a gesture (let them give it to Ocean Stars if they like) and told their action was completely against the spirit if the event of which they are no longer a part.Tim
Tim Bancroft
I have the impression that the team may have not realised that the event is linked to a nominated Charity.Keith Rowbottom is a Vicar and not the sort to break against convention.I speak to him tomorrow at the DM.Please show some clemency as I think he may have made an honest mistake. TedTaylor
What concerns me is that they are not even using the title 'Round Britain Reliability Run' for what they are doing. Got nothing against them raising money for this other charity at any other time but Guide Dogs is the nominated charity and this has been promoted enough, but it seems they are riding on the back of the CT event organisation for their own purposes. Not in the spirit of things and IF the RBRR is run to MSA regs (?) could this be contravening them?MUT
Tim Bancroft
Please read my message, I will speak to Keith and I am sure all will be fine. You never know, it just might be an honest and genuine mistake.
Tim Hunt
I think you are being very "charitable" Tim to suggest an honest mistake. After all the 2016 event has been associated with Guide Dogs ever since your announcement in the November 2015 Club Torque when in the first paragraph you stated "For 2016 we will support Guide Dogs". Maybe there is an argument that in future, if the charitable nature of the event continues, the designated charity should be mentioned on the Entry Form.Tim
Grahamgl
Presumably all the donations they have received thus far will not go to the Guide dogs. One would think that a vicar could read! Honest mistake, tell that to the policeman that stops you for speeding.Graham
Tim Bancroft
The Charity we support is mentioned within the Regs.I have spoken to Keith, who has acted in good faith. I do not wish to discuss this on a public Forum, but am happy to discuss on a confidential basis.
