mole42
Have we all told our insurers that we're on the RBRR?Have we added the extra drivers to the policy - for the weekend? Or for a longer period? What has been the response?
Tim Bancroft
The Club used to operate a separate insurance scheme for any driver that wanted extra cover. No point these days, however not a bad idea for the owner of the car to contact their insurance company to let them know. However it does tend to open a can of worms as the insurance broker or company will want to know more about the event. Remember that these days to comply with the RTA we have to get the event sanctioned by the MSA in the form of a 'Certificate of Exemption' for a Touring Assembly Permit.Of course, one should ensure that all drivers in their team are insured to drive the car, named driver. cook1e
I did mention it to Peter James Insurance on their stall at a TSSC show a few years back when adding an extra driver for the RBRR and they were not bothered as it's not a competitive event. I guess it's effectively just a tour... The lady I was speaking to just wished me good luck for the run! Also by adding extra driver at renewal this year rather than part way through the policy I avoided the normal admin charge so it cost zilch to add him. Plus both my drivers are now on both Triumphs as it's a multicar policy.
Velocita Rosso
However, if the third/extra driver has a fully comp insurance on a modern, that should suffice for third party on a second/borrowed car
mole42
Quoted from Velocita Rosso However, if the third/extra driver has a fully comp insurance on a modern, that should suffice for third party on a second/borrowed car Pretty much what I thought, but one of my drivers is an ex-police driver so he was being a bit picky!! Clive
Quoted from Velocita Rosso However, if the third/extra driver has a fully comp insurance on a modern, that should suffice for third party on a second/borrowed car Don't assume that. Many policies now exclude drive in other peoples cars.
Alex
Also if you are on agreed value and someone else drives it on their policy you have no agreed value!
TedTaylor
Spoke to my mate (second in command?) at Peter James and he added our third driver free of charge. Helps that Peter is a very old friend but suspect it would be the same for others.MUT
Ridgetone Triumph
Hope so Ted, got to add 2 others to 'Poo's' 😉

RobPearce
I can't remember the last time it actually cost me anything to add my co-driver(s). Possibly 1998? This year was easy because my brother was already on as a legacy of two previous RBRRs.
Stuart Wilson
Quoted from cliftyhanger Don't assume that. Many policies now exclude drive in other peoples cars. Agree this is slowly disappearing from policies, I know I no longer have it on any of my policies. It cost no more to add the second driver, who is now on both the TR and Moss policies and stays on at renewal.
