Andy Flexney
It will be possible to drive the Slovenian part of the route without using motorways as will the section in the Czech republic. However using motorways in the Czech Republic will be quickerYou will require an Austrian motorway vignette as we will be using the Austrian motorways quite extensively during the night.Swiss vignette will only be required by those doing the more challenging route after the Saturday restart and following the suggested route. Other routes are possible where no motorways are used. Each entrant is responsible for ensuring they have the appropriate vignette and any suggestions from the organisers are just that - suggestions . Velocita Rosso
Also, don`t forget that you need to pay a Toll on the top of TimmelsjochIn 2011 it was 14 Euro thenGetting to the top and not having pennies means coming all the way back down again! Beans
Quoted from Velocita Rosso ... a Toll on the top of TimmelsjochIn 2011 it was 14 Euro then ... It still is € 14,00 for a single journey with a normal car (< 3.5 T)
Andy Flexney
You will also have to pay to use the motorway over the Brenner if you do not follow the suggested route. Every team should be aware that there could be tolls which the organised do not know about and should have some cash on them at all times.AndyF
Velocita Rosso
Quoted from Beans It still is € 14,00 for a single journey with a normal car (< 3.5 T) Whats the fee if you are on a trailer?

cook1e
OK having gone to the drivers meeting last night, perused the road book today and read this thread this is my take on the Vignette requirement, but please comment if anyone thinks different. At the Drivers meet is was mentioned that we'd need Vignettes for Czech Republic, Austria and Slovenia. However looking at the Road book it only mentions Austria and Slovenia.Looking deeper into this it looks as though the recommended route in CZ avoids any Motorways that are covered by Vignettes in the Czech Republic. So looks like we only need Vignettes for Austria and Solvenia as stated in the Road book.Mike did mention that it may be awkward to get hold of a Vignette at the border during the night and looking at the road book timings the first cross of the border into Austria is at just past midnight so probably best to try and get hold of a Vignette at a motorway services ahead of this earlier in the day. Hopefully getting hold of a Vignette for Slovenia will be OK at the Border as the crossing is at a more sociable hour at around 8 in the morning. don cook1
I just went onto UKSnatcher's link and found that you can put in desired dates but where you do this is at the 'checkout'. You can enter date in the drop down box but then tells you that this is a posting date - clear as mud?
cook1e
I must admit, if it's going to be easy to purchase one over on the continent rather than via post then I'd rather do this rather than risk it not turning up or the date being wrong etc. What are most peoples experience, is it easy enough to get one at a motorway services before crossing the border? Andy Flexney
take a look at this link for Slovenia.http://www.slovenia.info/en/faq/Vignette-Toll-Stickers.htm?faq=199&lng=2and this one for Czech Republichttp://www.tolltickets.com/country/czech/vignette.aspx?lang=en-GBin both cases if you are not using the motorway or express way you do not require a vignette. The route in the road book does not use motorways either of the countries. At your own risk 🙂 🙂 🙂AndyF

The Road Book mentions that a Solvenia Vignette is required on both page 23 and page 24 (against way point 60) , The route also takes the A2/E61 which is under the Motorway toll network requiring a Vignette according to the Map on the DARS (the company that runs the Motorway system) website:- http://www.dars.si/Dokumenti/Toll/Toll_system_and_roads/Vignette_system_299.aspx I'm sure it is possible to avoid this but people need to be aware that if they follow the route they need a Vignette.I agree regarding the Czech Republic though, the recommended route doesn't use uny Motorways under the Vignette Toll system. Andy Flexney
upps sorry Andy, I was looking at the route I had prepared for myself and not the official road book.If you follow the suggested route in the road book you WILL require a Slovenian vignette.sorry for the confusion 🙂AndyF
