Radders
Hi all,After long term overheating problems with my 2.5 estate, I decided to go all in today and change the head gasket. The head is now removed ready to be cleaned up and inspected closely tomorrow. Is there anything else I should check while I have the head off? (Apart from the obvious)I also seem to remember someone telling me that the engine has a bad cast at the rear of the block and I need to use some sealant on the gasket or something to stop it leaking oil when I put it back together???? Any ideas???All help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Piston tops and valves are really good. No marks on the bores at all. Its just always had slight overheating issue, always run sick when cold and kicks out a bit of white smoke sometimes. Tell tale head gasket failure signs. :(
Nick Moore
Just a thought, can the water passage at the back of the head be opened out? I noticed the passage on my GT6's head was much smaller than the corresponding waterway at the back of the block (bottom of picture).
