rossybrown
Hi all,I' ve picked up my FD code engine and I've been working on a spec for its rebuild before attempting fuel injection (picking up GSXR 600 throttle bodies Thursday night). One of the wishes in my dream spec is the larger 1.431" inlet valves and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what size valves I have based on the head part/casting numers? The FD code engine has a head code of 307871 whilst the head on the Dolomite engine that's currently running in the car has a code of 312286-32.It would be good if one had the correct size valves but if not can a head be modded to accept the larger valves? Thanks in advance,RossPS so far £42 for the engine and £30 for the throttle bodies. I'll keep track of the expense
thebrookster
The head should be upgradable, allthough the sites I normally use don't seem to mention this particular number, maybe one of the guru's can help.In fact, ignore the above, having re-read the post the head is an MkIII/early MkIV head, so it should be able to fit the bigger valves. Will require new seats fitting to do so. James
You don't need new seats fitting for larger valves- just need to cut the head.
rossybrown
Thanks allI think i'll just get the head modded then as opposed to buy a head complete with the larger valves.Great performance enhancements website, i had seen it before but this time i've added it to 'favourites' for future reading.Cheers,Ross
