Replacing Wings and front Panels

Hi all,

I am replacing the front wings, plus the top front panel (in front of the bonnet) & the lower valance on a friends Stag. Given how these are constructed, access to the flanges where the wings and these panels need to be spot/plug welded together is either limited or pretty much non-existent.

What is the simplest/correct way of doing this?

Cheers

On the saloons I was told that the nose section was pre assembled (wings, nose & valance) and then fitted as a package to the car.

When you see how in accessible the flanges are, it makes sense.

I fitted a front valance to my Stag before painting and it was a right sod to get to. Head and welding mask through the radiator surround. No engine, gearbox or radiator fitted at the time.

The seam between the wings and the top panel can be done in situ using a combination of traditional welding and modern epoxy glue. Line everything up, clamp from beneath, then tack weld from above. Grind these welds down, then force 2-pack vehicle body glue down into the join from above. When cured, dress the seam, apply enough body filler to cover the join and form the 'seam'.

Mine was done a year ago and is still fine, with no sign of cracking.
