Combover

Recommended Posts

Depends entirely on how the panels are made.
Ordinary weight about 2/3rds that of steel, race weight (about 1/2) or hitech composite weight(a third).
The Sb had doors that weighed 5kgs WITH the handles and locks (no glass), and the roof was 9kgs when the steel roof was 30kgs.  All down to composite construction.

But a whole car made in GRP may save no weight at all.  A famous hill-climbing Spitfire, that looks original but has an entirely GRP body, is heavier than a steel one!
