Biffdiff42
Hi my rev counter has never worked on my TR 7 v8 and have taken it out to see if the 48k ohm resistor had been fitted to make it compatible with the V8. It does have an additional resistor but this does not appear to be fitted in the same place as recommend on the conversion guides and here is a pic
RobPearce
I'm no expert on those tachos but I would expect "the 48k ohm resistor" for V8 to be a scaling adjustment. Without it I'd expect the tacho still to work but show double the actual revs. The grey resistor in the foreground is a 47K. If somebody has modified it wrongly then that might explain it not working. Do you know the history of this tacho?
Biffdiff42
As I only purchased the vehicle a few months ago and am working through it I have no knowledge of the tacho and electrics are not my strength, but can carry out basic tests with a multimeter etc. Any further thoughts very welcome. thescrapman
Remove the 47k resistor and see if it starts working. Nothing to lose.
