Ben Hutchings
Hello, I'm trying to find out what thread size the bolts / set-screws that hold rear lamps on early spits and GT's is. For example, part number 510757. They look like a small BA thread to me. I must admit, I've not yet tried to identify them by thread-count or depth. I can't find my gauges yet as most of my workshop is still in boxes :) Any ideas?
Ben Hutchings
I found my micrometer, but not callipers or thread guages. It's 4.6mm OD, and about 1.2mm pitch. I reckon that's a 2BA. I think I'm going to order some up, but if anyone knows otherwise please shout! This is part of a long term 'where appropriate, replace hardware it with aluminium, stainless or brass campaign when it breaks' for my rusty old GT :)
Ben Hutchings
They say that talking to yourself... is a sign that you've asked a terminally boring question on the forum. For Googlers and future generations, the lamps are fitted with 2BA hardware, and I can recommend http://ba-bolts.co.uk which just happens to be about a mile from my house. Paudman
One of mine is Phillips and one is flat... the latter I think is the original.
