Just looking through the RBRR thread it seems as if there are a few already talking about not being able to do the event for one reason or another.

Looks like the entry from the P&P is going to be a bit light this year. (myself included  :'( )

So I just thought we could help out Tim Bancroft and his fellow organisers by making a list of Volunteers here.

So here goes,

So far I make it

1. Rob Southern
2. Mike Charlton
3. Steve Thompson

I'm also happy to help if i can't find a co-driver.

I know of a few co-drivers looking for seats who have not yet shown their hands.

Give it a few days and they will crawl out of the woodwork... :-)

I won't be entering the GT6 this year for a number of reasons, so I've already contacted Tim to marshal in Scotland somewhere or in the north east of Englandshire.

Would love to do a border control at Carter Bar to keep out undesirables.

You now who you are, Mr Chinn! :P

We take a dim view of smuggling Lambrini into Scotland.  We drink manly beverages like Irn Bru!

I'm thinking of smuggling some salad into Scotlandshire, that should confuse those troublesome Picts. I'll put my headlights on so they think I'm a dragon, should scare them off, if not I'll just get out some printed paper or maybe my demon voice box, sorry mobile phone  :P

Volunteering for marshal duty is an excellent idea - you can get close to the action but don't have to commit the full amount of time/money/energy - handy if you have a prior arrangement, family engagement of are just skint.

I have also contantacted Tim about a Marshell spot.  If I went with McJim I could show him how to drink, not just sip one 1/2 pint in 12hrs!  :P

Very funny!

I have no problem drinking.

And no problem falling down.

And no problem showing everyone a little later how much I've had to drink either!

Sad to say, my drinking days are over.

However, that's never stopped me in the [s]pissed[/s], sorry, past.

[s]Kim[/s].

[s]Hom[/s].

[s]Jam[/s].

Jim.

By the way, sipping a 1/2 pint in 12 hours is regarded, in Scotland, as something of a gift.  Just think of the rounds that you'll avoid buying.  "Another round?  Surely not!  I've loads left!"

I too will not be entering any of my fleet this time.  I may be tempted to co-drive but otherwise will be volunteering marshalling services too!

Tim: I am willing to travel anywhere and to be with anyone if you have a problem filling a spot.  No problem using my car.  Also if needed I might be able to get a co-marshell.  Oh, let us know if you have too many.  ,

Posted in the right thread at last

What's the usual route taken on the approach to Stirling?  I think it's maybe Glencoe, Crianlarich, Callendar etc???.

I've popped up to the Stirling stop the last few years but one idea I was pondering was heading out somewhere on the route to a good spot and setting up for few hours with a flask of coffee, a camera and a tripod and getting some moving shots.  Would miss out on some of the banter at the stop of course but hey-ho.

Would be work permitting - I have a somewhat unpredictable job which could restrict my ability/time so worst case I'd catch folks arriving/leaving Stirling but if time permits AND the weather is good for some decent shots I'm thinking the above might be a good idea.

You'll have to be north of Crianlarich to catch most of the cars while there's still daylight.

Tends to be getting pretty dark by Callander from memory.

First car is due at Stirling at 17:14 or thereabouts.

Sunset is at 18:38 but it's still fairly dull long before then under cloudy skies.

We arrived at Morrisons and it was still well light munching pies outside
Then we headed south just as dark and wet fell upon us
Then went down the M6 without realsing the side lights were`nt working :(

Cheers guys.

Being a local jock I reckon I'll figure out the daylight hours - but I was thinking North of Crianlarich at any rate.  Last few events it's still been light when most of the cars arrive at Stirling.

Well let's see how it goes.  If the weather is anything like 2008 there will be no point but if it's a clear day I can think of a few good locations.

Ironically, had it been this year the weather wasn't bad at all early August if I remember rightly.

My mate Matt and I are both up for marshalling somewhere ridiculous if needed! Can't afford the entire run but maybe a cheeky roadtrip instead ;) John O Groats maybe? :P

Cheers
