What's "prep"?

The loom will be repaired... once I get the tape I ordered from Autosparks...

I have the clutch to sort (new cylinders) and fit the set of braided hoses to the front (they're just on the rear - and it's not good!)

Speedo cable... and go back to paper air filters...

Anyone got an exhaust for a saloon with TR8 running gear please - will pay upto 50p for a good one. Likewise a radiator, oh and a gearlever and an MOT :-)
Dave! I'm panicking again, can I have some more lager and this will all feel like a good idea again  :X

No comment Mr Nutter :D

It was all ready for a last minute MOT last week - with some quickly thrown together dodgy looking wiring... but I'll get it done proper before I go...

There's a whole 29 days and 20 hours to go... I've got a whole 29 days and 19 hours before I really get worried...

Well car 2 is waiting for S&S to work their magic on it.

In the meantime I am getting the necessary together for my Cibies - painted em black, fixed the steady bars on, got a relay and switch together. I'll see if there's time to get them on - I hope so as it'll make the night driving a bit easier.

Can't see me getting the minilites on though :'(

Scaffold pipe you say? Can we fashion that into some straight up tractor pipes for the V8 then? I'm sure Dave has a plan, he's always got a plan, please let him have a plan  :B Fortunately I will have some tome to get up there and help - having never driven a Rover V8 I'm looking forward to it - mind you, I;d never driven an automatic before the Stretch and that was, err interesting!

I am going to do the C&SC Action Day a week on Sat in the GT6- mental message to me- do not bend it, do not get the old red mist and take it easy. Hope it does not rain.
By the way John Snook has some spectating tickets for this event, if you fancy coming along give John a call. His no. is in the mag, alternatively call me- it's a great day. Stacks of cars from works Healey replicas, Xk Jags, Lotus, Dolly Sprints, 240Z Datsuns up to Subaru Imprezas and Nissan Skyline rice rockets. Castle Combe is a great track with large run offs, a dodgy corner called Quarry and two interesting chicanes.

Just been speaking to Nigel Gair who tells me that Dave Kirk's rather battered 2.5Pi has been sorted by judicial use of a dozer and a big hammer and looks like it will be fit for the RBRR- excellent news.

Jason, Yep I'm worried about DP's progress with the car- reckon you need to have a word with him and tell him to get his finger out- why does he always leave things to the last minute? Too busy working on other peoples cars I reckon.

At present we have 81 cars taking part in the RBRR, lots of withdrawals last week- mainly Dolly Sprints.

Well I do remember the last RBRR when on the Wednesday before I was in the workshop with the Stretch and the body shells weren't even welded together at that stage, Dave wasn't worried at all - I was and I wasn't crewing the thing!
All will be sorted, no problemo!

What a match made in heaven ,a tr7 and a tow truck. As for my car its in having the paintwork touched upand i've just had a look at the 2000 engine i picked up the other day.Thought i'd take the head off ,as the guy i'd got it from said he'd taken it off recently, and judging by how loosely connected everything else is i thought i'd better replace the head gasket as a precaution  .some lovely new plus 20 thou piston inside so the engine has been rebuilt as he said it had.The thought of changing engines has now re-entered my mind

Spoke to Dave Kirk last night, he is quite sure that his Pi will take part- great news considering that 3 weeks ago a blind motorist in a modern drove into his car- says something about the strength of the big saloons.

Right I turned a bit anorakish last night,  Yeah alright Raider and TR7nutter, I snuggled into my anorak a bit more and had a look at the entry list and found the following stats:

Most common year of cars entered: 1972- 9no.
Decades: 50's none
                60's 24
                70's 50
                80's 7
Oldest cars: Either Mike and Katie Sloan's TR4 or Andrew Howorth's TR4- both from 1961.
Newest car: Barry McGrath's Acclaim
Types:
Big saloons: 27
Herald Chassis: 26
TR Chassis: 10
Dolomite: 9
TR7:5
Acclaim:2
Stag:2- (not sure if should have included in Big Saloon)

Might be entering 1 other car, a Dolomite Sprint, they rang on 26th of August but were unable to send entry through until Thurs. night, hopefully i will receive on Monday morn. This will leave us with 82 runners, how good is that.

Your tent? ??)

You know, instead of buying a play tent for our kids it wasn't much more to buy a proper one from Argos and that was the one I used last weekend. ;)

It looks to me like you tried to do the same thing Tim but got it the wrong way round :D :D :D

Blimey, that's just for keeping the beer in right? The mobile Chinn Towers is a 5 man tent I can stand up in - packs up into a valise style bag, about the size of a big brief case (that's a brief case that's big and not a case for big briefs). Goes up and down easy but seemt obe build as durable as a chinese lantern - I've sent two back and am on my third replacement! Still it saves ever having to clean the thing, it just fails and they replace it :-) Just had a thought, how the hell am I going to get everything into a Spit? We filled the Herald up when there was only two of us last time  :o I feel a boot rack coming on. 8)

Interesting comment about 'The kennel' being a one man tent, you may have noticed that I was not craning my neck on sat to eyeball the girls who were blowing their tents up on the side of the road- did not seem much point as I could hardly have entertained them in my tent- well thinking about that last statement, it may be have been entertaining, but hardly fun-prob. like one of those 'how many people can we get into a mini competitions'! Still I suppose I have learnt how to contort myself after 20 years of GT6 ownership!

Surely the objective would have been for you to be entertained by 5 young ladies in their tent ;)
