TR7 V8- Malcolm Paris- Gearbox swap on the cards.[/quote]Indeed. Just removed the offending 'box today. There is a ridiculous amount of play in the input shaft which I guess explains the odd noises it has been making. Ellis' second hand freebee 'box appears to be much better condition and is going in tomorrow. This may be small potatoes compared with some of the RBR cars but I've never actually replaced a gearbox before.....Malcolm. Gwaredd
Car No. 19 is officially in. Head gasket is replaced (old one blew due to being cheap perforated card spray painted in silver hammeright rubbish & plug leads on wrong upon start up, cue lots of back fireing), all leaks & noises fixed, well, as fixed as they can be, stickers are on, just need to fit new shoes tonight (the car, not me) & we are done.May even have a few days to relax! Not bad for our first time eh?Gwaredd.
heraldhabitat
Car 65 has benefitted by a new driveshaft uj and yoke this morning, Oh yeah stopped petrol dropping on the exhaust as well!! From a leaking/missing pi return pipe. What would we do without Canley Classics.Should be ok now.Chris
James
Anyone know what temp cable ties melt at?I present to you - the adjustable throttle spring throttle! This should save my calf muscle from lots of pain...
James
And yes I have just noticed the spring is on the wrong way around...
Tim Bancroft
James,A cable tie at this position will not last- it will stretch as it gets warm- Use strong wire.I will have some wire you could use that I will have with me at Crews Hill. Tim Bancroft
What a couple of troopers James and Doug F.Doug is now the proud owner of a Red 1982 Triumph Acclaim- e-bayed last night and brought home!!!James- good luck tomorrow. Also after a week of stress- John Scott, Cyril and Terry are all def. in! It was a close run thing!Bad news James Elliott of Classic and Sportscar is out- a real bummer- top car and nice guy. James has been a massive advocate of the Run in his mag - 2 great articles following 2000 and 2002 runs- so real sad news.
Jason
What happened to James Elliott? - he's the guy with a red GT6 isn't he?Well done on the list James C - you'd better get chatting to the MOT man and make friends or just drop him a few quid
