Fredman
Hi guys I just drained and removed my slave clutch cylinder to install a new cylinder, and found out that the "entrance-hole" for the screw from the master cylinder does not fit the old screw? It's the hole next to the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder. Do any of you know if there should be a difference? It should be pretty straight forward, but I guess not.Sorry for the lack of correct mechanical terms ::). / Freddy
Nick Jones
Looks like your old one is larger. Could be that the old one is from a Dolomite as they had larger connections for some reason. You don't say what car but I'm guessing GT6, previously fitted with Dolomite 1850 slave cylinder.Nick
Fredman
Thanks! I does look a bit different. I'll try to see if I can find the same as the one I removed. The old is on the right. / Freddy
heraldcoupe
Whle the union size can be sorted with a new pipe, I'd be concerned about the relative positions of the mounting flanges,Cheers,Bill.
Fredman
You are right, Bill. I have come to the conclusion that I got the wrong slave cylinder. My car is a GT6 with, as Nick wrote, probably a Dolomite 1850 slave cylinder installed. Now I just need to figure out where to buy a new cylinder here in Denmark...or maybe a repair kit for the old one. Thanks! / Freddy
heraldcoupe
A repair kit should be straightforward enough, what's the bore of the cylinder? Are there any part numbers cast into the body?Cheers,Bill.
Nick B.
Hi FredA piece of advice from a fellow dane - skip the danish suppliers. They are expensive - big time! There are plenty of UK suppliers who will sort you out with the correct slave in no time.Try either rarebits, paddock or canley. They all usually have a pretty fast reply on email and are used to dealings abroad.Hope you get the car back together soon - weather is clearing up. I cannot help you this weekend - I have managed to lose my keys to the workshop(clap)(clap)(clap), and The Mad Welder who holds a copy has left on vacation. Nick B.
Ooh- I just saw bills reply. If he can get you a repairkit - then go ahead. CheersNick
rotoflex
The greasy old one looks more like the GT6 slave cylinders I've watched come & go over the years.I'm sure I've got an old one for comparison somewhere, if you can wait until this evening. You may have, as you suspected, got an incorrect replacement. Fredman
I managed to solve it by taking the old rubbereal from the new new "wrong" slavecylinder and fit it in the old, which of course worked. I've put it all together and seems to work fine...I'll give it a few miles, and see if holds up.Thanks, Freddy
