mazfg
Just after some clutch advice. Mine is slipping a little and I'd like to either do it myself or get my garage to do it. What actually do i need, never done one before and looking at Paddocks, Canleys etc, there seem to be various parts or kits?Paddocks do a 3 piece clutch assembly for £65, which is the clutch release bearing, clutch backplate and friction plate. Rimmers of a similar one but is £200 more?Any advice appreciated, would I require any other components. Slave cylinder is a year old and master cylinder has new seals from last year, this part of the system works fine. Thanks

Mark Hammond
Easy job. I used to be able to do a Herald or Vitesse clutch in just over 1 hour in my youth. Allow half a day for your first time, get a clutch alignment tool too, it makes life easier. Heavy old 'box especially if you've got overdrive and despite what the manual says, you don't need to remove the front seats!Mark
mazfg
I thought passenger seat needed removal, then you can roll it out! I do have overdrive do going to be heavy. Is it doable with 1 person? I need to change my mount too, so will do it then. What's the difference in the above mentioned kits?

mike91
I'd remove the front driver's seat, you can be on level with the box then and make it easier to get behind it. I've done it by myself before with an overdrive box, and it wasn't too cumbersome with just one person.

Pete Lewis
guess I have to plug this http://www.tssc.org.uk/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=55&func=view&id=90613&catid=215these are tssc member prices, but are very cheap, very new, very genuine Borg beck manufacture ...not a copy .its easy to convert a 1600 to a diaphragm clutch , you need to drill a new dowel location in the flywheel. and use a 2ltr bearing carrier as its got to be a longer one.centre the cover with the setscrews , but fit a pipe olive on the bolt shank , and lightly screw in place, not utopia but equals out the bolt hole clearance,as the tapered olive centres the holes. drill the flywheel with a handdrill and loctite in a new dowel.just some idea's Pete
