karl1
I have an early Mk2 and shes is running a little rich. If I try to make her leaner she doesnt like it and hunts. Even if I try to adjust the timing she still complains. Would a different set of jets make any difference? My carbs adjust from the bottom on my Strombergs CD150. I do have a set of Mk1 carbs but imagine that the wont work on a Mk2
glang
I would have a good look over the carbs if you havent already before considering changing jets. Diaphragm condition, piston free movement, spindle wear, float levels, carb air flow balance and correct choke operation should all be checked.... karl1
I have rebuilt the carbs but not replaced the jets. Why is it the pistons stick on one carb on rebuilds?
glang
so Karl one piston doesnt drop freely? Assuming you havent got the two carbs pistons swopped over maybe the new diaphragm has changed the piston movement slightly causing its needle to now rub in the jet. If this is the case you need to realign that jet by undoing its fixing nut under the body (careful being brass and thin theyre easy to round off) and move the jet assembly until the piston drops freely. Hopefully the o-ring between the assembly and carb body wont start to leak after doing this.....
karl1
The car seems to run fine but a little rich.... And any adjustment to the carbs to make them run lean makes the carbs start to hunt. The smoothest running is a little rich, however this makes the plugs carbon up.
