FloydP
Hi all, I've got to replace the solenoid on my d type overdrive, the only way i can see to remove the bottom mounting screw is to disconnect the prop loosen the engine mounts and jack the back of the box up until I can see the screw and remove it.Does this sound about right or is there an easier way? Thanks,Floyd. boxcorsair
Floyd, you should be able to get the bottom screw with everything in situ. It is a sod to get to but I got mine with a ratchet spanner (halfords special ;))
FloydP
It's all sorted now, couldn't get close with any of my screwdrivers or even a flat bit in a ratchet spanner, so did it the way I thought I'd have to prop off undo mounts then jack back of box until I could get access to the screw. Before attempting this I'd pretty much tried everything else including replacing all the overdrive wiring as this wasn't a job I wanted to do.The new solenoid comes in like a rifle bolt, quite different to the much slower action of the old one.Only driven round the block but it all seems good so far.Cheers,Floyd.
