I've seen 105 on my speedo on a long downhill run, my speedo reads about 5 - 10% slow

The sat nav was showing 115mph  at around 4500rpm acording to Gaz who was riding shotgun at the time. (This was of course on the 10CR on the AutoBahn, wasn't it Gaz  ;) )

Errm well...my mondeo was showing 120mph behind you....that was in Germany too.... :o

The sat nav is slower mate, it was showing 105mph. in the mondeo its about 125mph ish.... your getting all confused...you need sleep...!

Hmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,lots of good comments. If its slow to come in then the main reason for wanting to do it is scuppered. With a small  revvy engine(1147cc) going up hill I was thinking that using overdrive on the lower gears would enable a quick upshift without losing to much momentum, Bit like a modern F1 car!!
If its slow and will wear things out then its a bit of a no no.

However bragging rights down the pub,,,,,,,8 speed gearbox......might shut some of the moderns up for a while!!!!!!!

I had 110mph out of my Herald 1200, (not standard), and 120mph out of my Vitesse, (not standard), however, the front starts to lift at that speed and the steering gets light, kinda scary!

It's MUCH nicer at 90mph, unless there are side winds, then the slab sides act like sails! (not recommended)

It is curious to watch other traffic coming backwards toward you like the stars when the enterprise goes into warp drive!
