CHASSIS NUMBER LOCATION ON 1850 DOLLY

I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT A NEW SHELL TO RESHELL MY ROTTEN SPRINT BUT CANT FIND A STAMPED IN CHASSIS NUMBER ON IT CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME AS I HAVE SEARCHED FOR IT TO NO AVAIL MY SPRINT 1 WAS IN THE REAR BOOT DRAIN CHANNEL BELOW THE WINDOW THE SHELL I AM USING IS A 1977 1850 AUTO ANY HELP? THANKS IN ADVANCE. :-/

Please turn off the caps lock.  Writing in capitals is considered to be SHOUTING and is very difficult to read.

To answer your question, your old car probably had a VIN number, as Triumph stamped the VIN number in the boot channel.  Prior to the introduction of VIN numbers (in approximately 1979/1980), the cars had "Commission" numbers, that are stamped on a small plate riveted somewhere on the vehicle - on a Dolly, I don't know where it will be.
