1981 X Reg Spitfire MK1 Restoration

Not sure if anyone is interested but I spotted this Spitfire on MK1 Spitfire an import Reg 1981 x Reg I would have thought it was making more than this with 6.5 hrs left on auction. Aren't MK1 Spitfires like hens teeth or something surly worth saving.

Not sure whats gone on with the registration. It certainly looks like it's got MK1 doors and you can see the early catches on at least 1 B post. I'd say early car or possibly body but later engine.

It might be a 1500 spitfire with a Mk1 body on it. Does show as manufactured in 1964 on DVLA, so import sounds more likely.

And the blue seats look Herald.

Looks like unsold at £700 with a couple of mins to go.

Could have been an import, back in the day DVLA issued a reg number of the year of import rather than a Q plate.   My Dad had a S reg 73 MK1 Escort that was imported into the UK from the channel Islads in 1977 so the reg related to the year of import rather than the age of the car.

Not worth £700 in my opinion and not as Rare as you think. I also think its a mk2. In that condition I would say £400. It needs alot of work and no matter how rare they think it is the thing bill will be a big one to fix.
